What's the harm?

I am not a ‘skeptic’, and I like to avoid the generalized term ‘skeptic’ (of what?). Faith and myth are very important part of human culture and I believe in miracles.
Miracles however don’t come from fraud. Disabled people and their families are constant targets of providers of snake oil; they’re taken advantage of because they’re desperate, they need hope and they’re willing to do anything. Medical science has no answers for everything and it doesn’t have answers for damaged nervous systems, but quack ‘medicine’ has no answers either, they just lead people to believe so through irrational claims and deception. They use clever and refined methods to make their sham look like ‘cutting-edge science’.
The false hope of a cure makes families spend their time and money on useless and even harmful treatments, and prevents them from looking into the direction where the real hope and help can be found; therefore, the harm quackery causes is enormous.
